Agentic engineering is the discipline of building and running systems where AI agents do goal-directed work under engineering governance. The industry mostly applies it to writing software. We apply it to everything we have operated for twenty-two years.
The newest pillar, and the discipline that now runs through the other three. Humans define goals, constraints, and quality standards. Agents plan, write, test, and operate under structured human oversight. Twenty-two years of designing, building, and operating infrastructure, platforms, and security is the raw material. We prove everything on our own operations before a client ever sees it. Customer zero is us.
Execution is becoming cheap. Judgment is not.
AI does the work. A human owns the outcome. In our work, a confident mistake is the expensive kind.
01
Autonomy is earned, not granted.
Machine speed where work is verifiable and risk is contained. A human hand on the wheel where the stakes are high. The line is your policy, not our default, and it moves as trust is earned.
02
We built the factory before the products.
Before any platform and before any offering, we built the AI Software Factory: our own production system for building software with agents. It runs across the whole engineering team, it evolves daily, and it is the enabler for everything else on this page. Every agentic platform we ship was built by it.
The factory is instantiated per project, and its autonomy level is set per project. It ranges from agent-assisted, where an engineer approves every step, to agents authoring end to end inside a policy envelope. Where the line sits depends on the stakes, on how cheaply the work can be verified, and on what the client requires.
03
The gates don't move.
Whatever the autonomy level:
Engineering context, written down, per repository. A contract the agents must follow, versioned with the code.
Author and reviewer agents, kept separate. The agent that writes never marks its own homework.
Test-driven development with coverage gates on every change.
Automated security review on every change.
A human review on every pull request. No exceptions, at any autonomy level.
04
We work agentic-first as a firm, not as individuals.
Every skill written, every piece of context curated, every working pattern becomes a shared asset the next engineer builds on, so the gains compound across the team instead of staying private. And because the factory is in daily use, it never stops improving.
05
The method multiplies every expertise we have.
The first thing we did with agentic engineering was point it at our own work. Across all four pillars (infrastructure, platforms, cybersecurity, and this one) agents now draft the designs, the migration runbooks, the platform modules, the detection rules, the documentation, and the code. Engineers direct, verify, and own the result. Every change lands the way it always has: through a reviewed pull request, under policy, with provenance.
For a client that means more work, delivered faster, at higher and more consistent quality, from the same senior engineers. The engineer's time moves up the stack, from producing the artifact to guaranteeing it. And because everything the method learns is captured as shared, versioned assets rather than private habits, each engagement starts further ahead than the last one.
You don't buy this as a separate service. It's how every eFellows engagement is delivered now.
06
And we build the systems that work on their own.
The second application is what we build for clients: multipurpose autonomous agentic systems and platforms. AI agents do continuous operational work inside a governed envelope. We build them for the domains we have operated for two decades: IT operations and support, security operations and incident response, platform operations, observability, and business back-office workflows. Built for our own operations and support practice first, then adapted per client.
07
One pattern underneath all of them.
Alerts, tickets, logs, and events are normalized into one schema and resolved to your assets. Every model call goes through a governed AI gateway, which holds routing, guardrails, budgets, and policy in one place. Durable workflows orchestrate the agents. A chat surface puts them where your people already work. Around the whole of it run strict tenant isolation, anonymization on egress, and a full audit trail. And one design rule holds everywhere: AI is never a single point of failure.
08
The operating model is the same everywhere.
Agents sense, reason, and propose. A human approves, and every action is logged, attributable, and auditable. You choose where the approval line sits, per environment and per change type, and you move it as trust is earned.
That's the IP: one pattern we can instantiate for any operational domain, and the factory that produces it.
09
Where the AI runs is a decision you own.
Every agentic system needs models, and for sensitive workloads a foreign cloud API is often not allowed at all. So the foundation layer of everything above is a governed model gateway with a choice behind it: open-weight models on your GPUs inside your perimeter, cloud models anonymized and fail-closed, or both, behind one gateway, one policy set, and one audit trail, routed by data sensitivity. Owned inference also changes the cost shape: from unpredictable per-token OPEX to planned CAPEX you control.
10
Sovereignty is a spectrum, and you can start today:
cloud behind a governed gateway with anonymization on egress → open-weight models evaluated on rented GPUs against your real workload → owned hardware with our MLOps → fully in-perimeter inference.
Same platform at every step. No rebuild between steps.
11
And what can't be cleaned doesn't get sent.
Context-aware anonymization, expertise we earned building AI platforms for regulated clients, strips sensitive data before it leaves for a cloud model while preserving the structure the AI needs to reason, with fail-closed guards. It's what makes step one of the spectrum viable for a bank.
We design and build the agentic platform, or the factory itself, in your environment, with combined teams and structured knowledge transfer.
Every agent-authored change carries provenance: which model, which inputs, who approved. When the engagement ends, your team runs it.
Operations & Support
Agents work around the clock. Humans govern.
Agentic platforms operated as our own, 24/7, backed by 20+ years of operating and supporting client systems. Agents handle first-line volume. Our engineers own escalation, judgment, and the outcome.
You choose where the human approval line sits, and you move it as trust is earned.
